Powerhouse Martial Arts & Fitness of North Austin offers colored belt exam/rank Promotions 6 times per year; February, April, June, August, October, December.
District Black Belt Exams/Rank Promotions are offered three times per year; January, May, and September.
At the regional/district level all students can test from Power Cubs to 3rd Degree Black Belt. High ranking Belt Exams/Rank Promotions (4th-9th degree) will take place at National and International Events. Preparing For Your First Belt Exam
Make sure you have registered for the Belt Exam by the registration deadline date posted in the academy or noted on the exam flyer. Belt Exams are typically held on Fridays and Saturdays depending on which ranks are testing.
In addition, you should have at least attended the minimum number of lessons required based upon your age group and rank before you can take your belt exam. You can find these limits at the bottom of the class schedule.
Unless otherwise posted, all exams are held at Powerhouse Martial Arts & Fitness of North Austin. You should note the belt exam schedule and arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of the exam. Students that arrive late will not be allowed to take their belt exam.
After you complete your belt exam…
After you complete your belt exam, your results will be recorded and posted to your Kicksite account, typically within the same day. If you PASS your exam, you will be invited to take part in the Belt Ceremony, where you will receive your new rank belt. This is usually held a few days after the exam.
If you advance in rank to Green Belt, you will be required to attend the Sparring Clinic, where you will be fitted for your new sparring gear. Please note that you must purchase your sparring gear through Powerhouse Martial Arts. All non-Powerhouse sparring gear is prohibited.
If you do not pass your exam, you are encouraged to speak to a staff member about your belt exam results.
A few things to remember
- Powerhouse Belt Exams are only for our taekwondo students. If you only come to Powerhouse Martial Arts & Fitness of North Austin for Claunch’s Jiu-Jitsu program, you do NOT participate in Powerhouse’s taekwondo belt exams.
- Your membership at Powerhouse Martial Arts & Fitness of North Austin is NOT affected by the results of your exam. In other words, you will never have or never be at risk for having your membership terminated at Powerhouse Martial Arts over the results of your exam.
- Belt exams are a key component of the Powerhouse experience and it is encouraged that you participate.
- There are additional fees for participating in Powerhouse belt exams. These fees will be posted in the academy, on your Kicksite account, and on the belt exam flyer.
